    Instagram Ads: Run Your First Ad Campaign in Just 5 Easy Steps

    Introduction

    Instagram is one of the most popular social media platforms in the world, with over 1 billion monthly active users. It is also a powerful marketing tool that can help you reach your target audience, increase your brand awareness, and drive more sales. But how do you get started with Instagram ads? In this blog, we will show you how to run your first Instagram ads in 5 easy steps.

    Step 1: Set Up Your Instagram Business Account

    Before you can run ads on Instagram, you need to have an Instagram business account. This is a type of account that allows you to access features such as insights, analytics, contact options, and ads manager. To set up your Instagram business account, follow these steps:

    • If you don’t have an Instagram account yet, download the app and create one.
    • Go to your profile and tap the menu icon in the top right corner.
    • Tap Settings and then Account.
    • Tap Switch to Professional Account and then Business.
    • Follow the instructions to complete your profile, such as choosing a category, adding your contact details, and connecting your Facebook page (optional).

    Step 2: Define Your Marketing Objective and Budget

    The next step is to define your marketing objective and budget for your Instagram ad campaign. Your marketing objective is what you want to achieve with your ads, such as increasing brand awareness, generating leads, or driving conversions. Your budget is how much you want to spend on your ads, either per day or for the entire campaign duration. To define your marketing objective and budget, follow these steps:

    • Go to Meta Ads Manager and click Create.
    • Choose a campaign objective that matches your goal, such as Reach, Traffic, or Conversions.
    • Name your campaign and click Next.
    • Set your budget and schedule for your ad set. You can choose a daily budget or a lifetime budget, and specify the start and end dates of your campaign.
    • Click Next.

    Step 3: Choose Your Audience and Placement

    The third step is to choose your audience and placement for your Instagram ad campaign. Your audience is the group of people who will see your ads, based on criteria such as location, age, gender, interests, and behaviors. Your placement is where your ads will appear, such as in the Instagram feed, stories, explore, or reels. To choose your audience and placement, follow these steps:

    • In the ad set level of your campaign, scroll down to the Audience section and click Edit.
    • Use the tools to create your custom audience, or choose from the saved or lookalike audiences that you have previously created.
    • Click Next.
    • In the Placements section, choose Automatic Placements to let Facebook decide the best places to show your ads, or Manual Placements to select the specific platforms and formats that you want to use.
    • If you choose Manual Placements, make sure to check the Instagram box and select the options that you want, such as Feed, Stories, Explore, or Reels.
    • Click Next.

    Step 4: Create Your Instagram Ad Creative and Copy

    The fourth step is to create your ad creative and copy for your Instagram ad campaign. Your ad creative is the visual element of your ad, such as an image, a video, or a carousel. Your ad copy is the text that accompanies your ad, such as a headline, a description, or a call to action. To create your ad creative and copy, follow these steps:

    • In the ad level of your campaign, scroll down to the Identity section and select your Instagram account. If you don’t have one, you can use your Facebook page instead.
    • In the Format section, choose the type of ad that you want to create, such as Single Image, Video, Carousel, or Collection.
    • In the Media section, upload your ad creative or choose from the existing options. You can also use the tools to crop, edit, or enhance your ad creative.
    • In the Text and Links section, write your ad copy and add your website URL. You can also choose a call to action button, such as Learn More, Shop Now, or Sign Up.
    • Preview your ad and make any adjustments as needed.
    • Click Publish.

    Step 5: Launch Your Ad Campaign and Monitor Your Results

    The final step is to launch your Instagram ad campaign and monitor your results. Once you publish your ad, it will go through a review process to make sure that it complies with the Facebook and Instagram advertising policies. This usually takes a few minutes, but it can take longer in some cases. Once your ad is approved, it will start running and reaching your audience. To launch your ad campaign and monitor your results, follow these steps:

    • Go to Facebook Ads Manager and click the name of your campaign.
    • Click the green Publish button to launch your campaign.
    • To monitor your results, go to the Performance tab and check the metrics that are relevant to your objective, such as impressions, reach, clicks, conversions, and cost per result.
    • To optimize your campaign, you can make changes to your ad set or ad level, such as adjusting your budget, audience, placement, creative, or copy.
    • To pause or stop your campaign, click the toggle switch next to your campaign name.
