In the 15 edition of Indian Premier League Gujarat Titans were playing against two times champion Kolkata Knight Riders. The match took place on Sunday, April 9th, 2023. Venue was Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Rashid Khan was leading Titans and after winning the toss Titans elected to bat first.
In their first innings Gujarat managed to score a huge total of 204 with the loss of 4 wickets. Their top batsmens who scored for GT were Sai Sudharshan , Vijay Shankar and Shubman Gill.Â
KEY MOMENTS OF THE MATCH
- Â As Hardik was not available for this match due to some reason, there was lack of one bowler who can bowl in middle overs.
- The Venkatesh Iyer and Nitish Rana’s 100 runs partnership in just 54 balls was one of the key moment where KKR dominates GT.
- Rashid’s GT couldn’t break the partnership, but after it was broken, it was too late. KKR were in strong at that time.
- Giving Yash Dayal last over in such a tense situation were just 29 runs to defend.
Giving Yash Dayal to bowl the final over, was I think one of the most worst decision of Rashid Khan.
No doubt he is a very good bowler, but defending 29 runs and Rinku on the strike is something difficult to do. As we have seen Rinku earlier smashing boundaries to best bowlers.
Vijay Shankar’s brilliant knock (63* off 24), B Sai Sudharshan’s knock (53 off 38), Rashid’s Hat-trick, and Venky and Rana’s 100 runs partnership were all overshadowed by Rinku’s 5 back-to-back sixes.
